We have completed our interview season for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Applicants must sign-in to the MyERAS application portal where they will create a personal statement, identify at least 3 people to submit Letters of Reference (including one from current Program Director documenting training completed.) Other required items include Dean’s letter (MSPE) and medical school transcript, USMLE transcript, and photo.

You must complete an ACGME-accredited 4-year Psychiatry Residency* in order to qualify for the University of Virginia’s Consultation-Liaison Fellowship.

We also encourage applicants to join the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP) if they have not already.

Interview invitations will be sent out starting August 4th, 2025.

Institutionally, we sponsor the J1 clinical visa. All graduates of international medical schools must hold a valid certificate issued by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to be appointed as a resident or fellow, following the ACGME and VA Board of Medicine requirements.

*Some exceptions include an AOA-approved residency program, a program with ACGME-I Advanced Specialty Accreditation, or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)-accredited residency program located in Canada.
