Interventional Neuroradiology

The Interventional Neuroradiology division at UVA has great experience performing complex endovascular neurosurgery. In a collaborative model, Interventional Neuroradiology, along with Endovascular Neurosurgery and Vascular Neurosurgery, comprise the Neurointerventional Surgery service at the University of Virginia Health System.

The Interventional Neuroradiology Division has extensive experience in the endovascular treatment of complex cerebrovascular disease, including the treatment of well over 3,000 ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms, as well as the highest level of experience and expertise in the use of the newest technology for brain aneurysm treatment and flow diversion. Our physicians are nationally renowned for their education and proctorship of other neurointerventionalists in the use of flow diversion for the treatment of brain aneurysms.

The Interventional Neuroradiology service at the University of Virginia Health System offers endovascular and percutaneous treatment of a wide variety of diseases affecting the central nervous system, including ruptured and unruptured brain aneurysms, arteriovenous  malformations (AVMS) and fistulas (AVFs), ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, intra and extracranial steno-occlusive vascular disease, vascular malformations and tumors of the head and neck, and painful vertebral body compression fractures.

The University of Virginia is a Center of Excellence for the treatment of cerebrovascular disease, with a dedicated Neuro intensive care unit and associated intermediate care unit, as well as a dedicated critical care physicians on site 24/7 and a multidisciplinary team comprised of leaders in the field of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Critical Care medicine, and Neuroradiology, providing unparalleled treatment for patients with cerebrovascular disease.
