Yhana Chavis, DO

Yhana is a 2nd year resident in Radiation Oncology.  She grew up in both New Jersey and Georgia and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Language & Literature from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.  She is a non-traditional resident.  Prior to medical school, she first obtained a M.S.Ed. from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then worked in education administration at various universities across the country and globe from New York City to Chicago to Beijing.

She then returned to her first passion: medicine.  After returning from China, she went on to pursue her earlier dream of becoming a physician and enrolled at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Upon graduation, she completed her initial training in Internal Medicine at Franciscan Health- Olympia Fields, IL.

Yhana chose UVA for its unique resident-attending physician relationship and exceptional preparation to care for patients diagnosed with cancer.  She enjoys living in Virginia and spends her time exploring the region’s natural beauty, the many restaurants Charlottesville has to offer and loves exploring the world.
