Why did you choose UVA? I was at UVA for medical school and experienced how wonderful this department is first-hand! The residents were collegial and incredibly nice. They worked hard but had fun and were happy. I had developed strong mentorships with faculty in the department (shout-out to Dr. Forkin, Dr. Huffmyer, Dr. Shilling, and Dr. Dunn!) and I wanted to continue learning from them. On the interview trail, I found myself comparing every program to UVA – “this is great, but it isn’t UVA!” – and ultimately, I knew this was the place I wanted to train for four more years!
