Resident Wellness
Our goal is to help our anesthesiology residents achieve better balance during their training at UVA. We know that wellness is not one-size-fits-all, and we offer many different opportunities for residents to engage in their own well being. Our wellness curriculum includes mentorship programs, professional development, mental health resources, community building, and FUN!
Departmental Events
Annual events hosted by the department include a Holiday Party, Intern Welcome Party, Graduation, Weekend Sporting Events and others!
Mark your Calendars for the upcoming Anesthesiology Wellness Week: September 25th!
Past events include guest speakers on wellness, softball games, happy hours, fun run/walk/yoga, group dog walk, raffles!
Each pod consists of at least one resident from each year with faculty mentors. Pods are encouraged to meet quarterly in an informal setting.
Each month, one Friday is selected as a “Fun Friday” and a themed party in the Ready Room is hosted by either a resident and/or faculty. Past themes have included: Detective Theme, Easter Egg Hunts, Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving, Gingerbread Competition, Spa Day.
The Sean Yemen Wine Club is hosted by a resident wine connoisseur (some might say amateur sommelier) and includes wines from a featured region with snacks. Venues have ranged from homes to wineries and fields! This event happens about once every 1-2 months and is beloved by our residents!
The great return of Class Outings after a COVID Hiatus! Each class gets to vote on an outing and will have the day free to participate. Past outings include snow tubing at Wintergreen Ski Resort, a corn maze at Liberty Mills, an escape room, and zip-lining.
