Regional Anesthesia Fellowship

The Department of Anesthesiology offers a year long fellowship in regional anesthesia.  Our fellow typically works one day as an OR attending and four days as a regional fellow, with opportunities for research and training with our Regional Anesthesia Division.

We have currently filled our regional fellowship positions for 2020-21.  We will begin looking at applicants for three positions for the 2021-22 cycle in early spring of 2020.  We have applied to the ACGME for 2 accredited positions, so please check back for application process as it differs for ACGME accredited position or the UVA Clinical Instructor position.

Applicants will need to provide a CV, two letters of reference, a personal statement of interest, 3 references with contact information and USMLE scores.  The typical fellowship period is from July 1 to June 30.  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be invited to Charlottesville for a day of interviews.

Because this is a faculty position at the Instructor level, all applicants must be Board eligible to apply.  Current University policy requires all faculty to be Board Eligible, which requires completion of an ACGME accredited residency program.  If selected for an interview, candidates must apply through the University of Virginia centralized hiring portal, Jobs@UVA.

Our Employment web page has general information about applying for employment through UVA’s hiring portal, jobs@UVA.

For more information about the regional fellowship, please contact Ashley M. Shilling, M.D., Director of the UVA Regional Fellowship or Brett J. Elmore, M.D., Associate Program Director of the UVA Regional Fellowship.
