Application Process
UVA Emergency Medicine offers 12 categorical PGY-1 Emergency Medicine Resident positions each year through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We accept applications only through ResidencyCAS. A complete application includes:
- NRMP application form
- Medical School Dean’s Letter
- United States Medical Licensing Exam Scores – no minimum required score; COMLEX can be submitted as an alternative to USMLE
(Step 1 required, Step 2 optional) - Medical School Transcripts
- Minimum of one SLOE
- Personal Statement
We do accept J-1 Visas.
Once a complete application has been received through ResidencyCAS, a selection committee will review it. Interviews are by invitation only and will be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays between October and December.
Interview Season 2025-2026
Interviews will be hybrid this year, some virtual and some in-person. Interviews will run from October 2025 through December 2025. We will hold two Second Look days in February 2026.
