In Dean Melina Kibbe’s August 2023 address to the School of Medicine:

“As we come together this year in our collective mission—to transform health and inspire hope for all Virginians and beyond—each and every one of us plays an integral role in fulfilling this mission whether you are gaining new clinical skills or mastering the anatomy of the human body; immersed in groundbreaking research and unraveling the mysteries of medicine; delving deeper into your clinical rotations learning to be empathic and compassionate caregivers; or supporting or teaching the next generation of medical professionals. You all are integral members of this amazing School of Medicine; and during the academic year, I encourage you to embrace this tight-knit community and cherish the human connections that lie at the heart of our profession.”
