Medical Student Scholarship
Our program is pleased to offer a one- to three-day shadowing scholarship to interested medical students whose unique backgrounds, skills, or goals will enrich UVA’s Pathology Department. Creating and cultivating a housestaff reflective of our community is vital to our program, as it provides optimal patient care and a collaborative culture within our health system. This scholarship is intended to offset travel and hotel costs and is open on a rolling basis, but is not available during interview season (October – February). This program is open to applicants who are first generation medical school attendees, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and individuals who have overcome substantial educational or economic obstacles.
Clinical Rotations
The Department of Pathology offers several different rotations for medical students. We have two- to four-week visiting medical student observerships available in Surgical Pathology, Hematopathology, Neuropathology, and Transfusion Medicine. A one-year post-sophomore fellowship is also available to qualified second- or third-year medical students.
