Tamriage Martin, MD
Surgery Resident
Medical School: Wake Forest University
I was raised in Kernersville, North Carolina, which we always satirically called K-Vegas because growing up there was nothing aside from a Walmart and one small movie theatre. I went to college at Wake Forest, which was 15 minutes down the road, and majored in Psychology. I stayed at Wake Forest for a master’s degree in biomedical sciences and for medical school, making me a Triple Deac. I became interested in the UVA surgical program because of the strong focus on medical education and teaching at every level. The city is stunning and vibrant with a good mix of outdoor nature activities that I was able to see at a second look. I am currently undecided on a specialty but perhaps Acute Care Surgery or Minimally Invasive Surgery.
