Protocol Review Committee

The Protocol Review Committee (PRC) is charged with providing institutional peer review of all cancer-related clinical research protocols, except for trials that have received a previous peer review (e.g. NCI cooperative group trials.)

PRC services include:

  • Reviewing scientific merit of clinical trials
  • Prioritization of competing protocols
  • Monitor protocol accrual for all studies within the Cancer Center

The PRC functions at a high level of efficiency through the Cancer Center Clinical Trials Management System, OnCore. All submissions and reviews occur within this system. Documents required for PRC submission and review include:

  • Study Protocol
    • For UVA investigator-initiated trials, investigators are strongly encouraged to contact the Protocol Development Team for assistance with developing their protocol and/or use one of the following protocol templates to expedite PRC review process by ensuring all required protocol elements are included.
      • Protocol template for therapeutic interventional trials involving drugs and/or devices (DOC)
      • Protocol template for prospective non-drug trials (DOC)
  • PRC Protocol Submission Form (DOC/PDF)
  • Investigator Brochure (if applicable)
If you have questions, please contact Saba Mahmood at sm4pp@uvahealth.org.
