Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology Fellowship Program

Welcome from the Director, David Repaske, MD, PhD

David Repaske, MD, Program Director

Welcome to UVA! We’re excited to introduce you to the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Virginia—a comprehensive three-year program designed to cultivate both clinical expertise and research excellence. The fellowship includes 12 months of clinical training and 24 months dedicated to research, offering a balanced and enriching experience.

Our program is approved for three fellows, with institutional funding currently available for two. While we are considered a moderate-volume center, the complexity of our cases is high, providing fellows with meaningful, intellectually stimulating clinical experiences. Fellows are supported—not overwhelmed—and are encouraged to take an active role in the diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making process.

At UVA Pediatrics, teaching and learning are at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to education is reflected in our outcomes: all recent fellows have passed their board exams on the first attempt, and our pediatric residency program has maintained a 100% first-time board pass rate for the past three years.

We look forward to helping you grow into a confident, compassionate, and highly skilled pediatric endocrinologist.

We are proud to offer a training environment that emphasizes mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of children and families affected by endocrine disorders, including diabetes.

Fellows in our program benefit from a large patient population, cutting-edge research opportunities, and a faculty dedicated to your growth as both a clinician and a scholar. Whether your passion lies in clinical care, research, or education, our program will support and challenge you to reach your full potential.

We look forward to learning more about your goals and aspirations, and we hope you’ll consider joining our vibrant and supportive community.
