Bio

Dr. M. Kathryn Mutter is a University of Virginia Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine within the School of Medicine, Director of Emergency Department Geriatric Care at UVA Health, and Course Director of the Internship Readiness Course at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Economics from the University of Virginia and earned both her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Mutter is clinically active as an attending physician in the UVA Emergency Department. Her research focuses on medical education, interprofessional education, and simulation-based learning, and she has served as principal or co-investigator on multiple funded projects.   Dr. Mutter serves as Senior Editor of the nationally distributed Transition to Residency Compendium and is a member of the Academy of Excellence in Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she has received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
